Drug Reform Persuasion. Two young dudes were picked up
by the cops for smoking pot and appeared in court before a judge.
The judge told them, “You seem like nice young men, and I’d like
to give you a second chance rather than jail time. I want you to go
out this weekend and try to show others the evils of drug use and
convince them to give up drugs forever. I want to see you back here
in court Monday to tell me what you did.”
On Monday they were back in court, and the judge asked the first
one: “How did you do over the weekend?”
“Well, your honor, I persuaded 17 people to give up drugs forever.
The judge was impressed and asked how he did it.
“I used a diagram, your honor. I drew two circles, one as large as
a cantaloupe and the other the size of a grape. I showed them the
diagram and told them, This big circle is your brain before drugs,
and this small circle is your brain after drugs.”
“Excellent!” said the judge. “And you, son,” looking at the second boy. “How did you do?”
“Well, your honor, I persuaded 156 people to give up drugs forever.”
“That’s fantastic! How did you ever manage that?”
“Well, your Honor, I used a similar approach. I pointed to the
small circle and told them: This is your asshole before prison…”
